Weekend Stock Market Outlook - November 3 2019

The stock market outlook continues to show an uptrend.

The ADX and OEW remain bullish.  Price and volume is still mixed, but a handful of distribution days will fall off this count this week, so you could be forgiven for thinking this signal shows an uptrend at this point.

Q3 earnings season is mixed, October's jobs report came in better than expected, and the ISM manufacturing index showed contraction again. And the U.S. Fed lowered rates by 0.25% last week.

The stock market outlook keeps an uptrend rating heading into this week.

The ADX show bullish price action, and OEW remains in an uptrend. Price and volume remains mixed.

If you're looking at individual stocks, watch those earning reports! I'm seeing a lot of volatility when stocks with strong fundamentals report. You know how frustrating it is to see a stock hit trip your sell signal, only to rally back strongly in the next day or two!

Weekend Stock Market Outlook - October 13 2019

The stock market outlook flips to a downtrend, again with an asterisk.

President Donald Trump outlined the first phase of a deal to end a trade war with China on Friday. The key word is "outlined". With nothing written or signed, it's really just a cease-fire in the China trade war.

The U.S. fed also announced it would start growing it's balance sheet again. The last time we saw this, the intent was to lower long-term interest rates and boost the stock market. We called it Quantitative Easing (QE).

Both the measures are largely symbolic. As always, risk management and capital preservation are keys to surviving of uncertainty like we're experiencing today.

Weekend Stock Market Outlook - October 06 2019

After deluge of data and a volatile week of trading, the stock market outlook is in an uptrend, with an asterisk. 

Like Friday's payroll data, price action was strong enough to keep hope alive, but weak enough to make me feel otherwise.

Look for a gain on 1% or more early next week, on higher than average trading volume, to confirm the uptrend has more room to run.

Liquidity and impeachment and trade wars, oh my. There's been no shortage of headline risk over the past few weeks and macroeconomic data continues to weaken.

The stock market outlook remains in an uptrend, albeit a weakening one. A break below the 50-day is all it would take for a trend change.
